Accountability is a biblical demand: God calls leaders to justice, honest stewardship, and transparency (Micah 6:8; Proverbs 21:3), and Jesus warns that those entrusted with much will be held to a higher standard (Luke 12:48). The recent stories — lapses in federal oversight, alleged financial misconduct by a church leader, and questions about investigative staffing — show how failures of stewardship harm the vulnerable and erode public trust; Scripture calls the church and civic institutions to repentance, restitution, and reforms that protect the weak.
