Protests reveal the biblical tension between calling out injustice and honoring authority: like the prophets and Jesus confronting wrongdoing, Scripture calls God’s people to pursue justice and mercy (Micah 6:8) while also being peacemakers (Matthew 5:9). At the same time the Bible warns against violence, false allegiance, and being led astray (James 3; Romans 13’s call to lawful order), so Christians are called to nonviolent witness, protection of the vulnerable, and prayerful pursuit of honest reform.
