Recent stories about attacks on houses of worship, data exposure, and strained homeland-security resources call the church to be both watchful and compassionate; Scripture honors vigilance (Ezekiel’s watchman, Matthew 26:41) and commands care for the vulnerable (Psalm 82:3, Luke 10:25–37). We are to pursue peace and justice while refusing vengeance, putting on wisdom and spiritual armor (Matthew 10:16; Ephesians 6:11–18) and responding with prayer, practical protection, and neighborly love.
