The current outbreak of strikes, asymmetric retaliation, civilian suffering, and the honoring of those lost calls Christians to hold together two biblical truths: the call to pursue justice and protect the innocent, and the call to be peacemakers. Scripture commends sacrifice (John 15:13) and care for the vulnerable (Isaiah 1:17; Matthew 25:35–40), while warning against personal vengeance (Romans 12:19) and urging faithful peacemaking (Matthew 5:9). In this moment the church is called to pray for the grieving, advocate for the protection of civilians, and press leaders toward restraint and wise stewardship of force.
