Current history coverage centers on how institutions and communities wrestle with the past: the Smithsonian’s impending leadership change under Lonnie G. Bunch III and its push to present fuller, contested narratives; the surprise return of an 1894 magazine after 130 years; a federal QR-code program and executive review that has led to removal of park interpretive signs and public pushback; local oral histories uncovering a WWII liberation of Holocaust survivors; and solemn 25th‑anniversary 9/11 memorials in New York, the Pentagon and Shanksville. Christians are called to pursue truth and dignity in how we remember, seeking justice, mercy and faithful stewardship of memory for the good of our neighbors and common life.
